We’re very pleased to announce today a new partnership with The Echo Nest as part of our OpenEMI initiative that puts thousands of amazing songs and other content such as videos and photos in the hands of more than 10,000 application developers around the world. This is the most extensive collection of licensed music and other assets to be made available in this way and gives developers a one-stop destination to create new digital products for EMI’s artists.
Artists involved at the launch of this new project include Gorillaz (see their brief to developers below), Pet Shop Boys, Tinie Tempah, Professor Green, Eliza Doolittle, Chiddy Band and The Japanese Popstars with many more to follow in due course. We’re also making thousands of tracks for our legendary Blue Note Records jazz label available as well as catalogue tracks from the EMI archive from artists such as Culture Club, Simple Minds, Shirley Bassey and The Verve.
